Most of the time I only use a palette knife. I apply the paint to the canvas in thick impasto strokes. Then, I can scrape off sections of the paint to create sharp thin details or to show the underlying layer.

Mistakes are difficult to conceal or fix – the paint dries quickly and the colours can mix together into mud if you work them too much.

With this technique you are instantaneously combining images with feelings and materializing the result.
